Too Many Trucks Spoil the Train

Rex, feeling lazy, challenges Mike about his hauling capacity. Mike immediately goes out to prove him wrong, with results with him taking on too many trucks and causing an accident. Rex and Mike are both scolded, and Jock takes over Mike's duties whilst he gets repaired.

The Burst Ballast Truck

Jock is busy with the goods duties, and one day noticed Oliver frantically going around looking for trucks. Jock spots some old coal ones in a siding and suggests them, so Oliver uses them to be filled with ballast.

Flying Frank

Frank has recently developed the personal dream to fly. The other engines tell him he has no chance, but Frank still continues wanting and wishing. One day however, as a reward for helping out a stranded hot air balloon, Frank gets the feeling of flying when the pilot shows him photos taken from up in the sky.

Horse-Drawn Bert

Bert has a dislike for horses, saying they have no uses and nothing but a play thing. His opinion soon changes however, when a relief driver causes Bert to lose steam and therefore fall ill- and a nearby retired workhorse tows him back to the station to meet laughing and teasing.
