You can't help being fascinated by the sight of your own legs disappearing into the muck. You are really doing this!
As the sludge wells up above your knees, you have to move your feet ever wider apart or you would sink or overturn the island between your legs. The cockroaches sense this and to your dismay one of them runs up your thigh.
You would like to move your hand to flick it off of you, but you need both hands to control your descent into the sewage.
Do you:
- Start thinking this was a really poor idea and try to heave yourself back up the ledge
- Hope you are close to reaching the bottom with your feet and use your hand to fend off the roach
- Don't blame the roach for trying to escape the flooding you have caused; ignoring it to continue slowly easing yourself into the sludge
