You decide to try to settle down and live a normal lifestyle. You change your name to Joseph Kingsley and keep a low profile among one of NYC’s many tenement apartment buildings.
You fall off the radar, twenty years pass without incident or discovery of who you were. Then one night you’re sitting in your favorite chair watching the new episode of E.R. when you hear a knock at the door. It wasn’t uncommon to for people to drop by this late at night; you’ve made your living as a maintenance man for the building for the last 20 years and broken thermostats or burned out light bulbs never kept daytime hours.
You answer the door to see a young woman in a trench coat standing on your stoop. She’d be very pretty if she didn’t look so stern.
“Yes?” you ask.
“Are you Iosif Kulinsky?”
Your eyes widen and you blood runs cold at the name that you haven’t heard for 20 years. Your name. You consider how to answer her, it’s obvious she knows something otherwise she wouldn’t be on your doorstep, but then again denial has always been your best friend…
