"Why don't we start by you telling me who you are?" you reply.
She pulls out a Russian ID. "Tanya Bogdanova, FSS. Now who are you?"
You pull out your own (fake) American ID and show it to her. "Joe Kingsley, at your service."
"Huh," Tanya mutters. "Iosif Kulinsky would have tried to shoot me."
True enough, if we had met back when I was an active gangster in the old Soviet Union, and the FSS was still the KGB, you think. But what you say is, "Come on in. May I call you Tanya?"
"You may," Tanya replies with a charming smile. That smile and her legs have probably gotten information out of many a dazzled crook. You close the door behind you and settle her in a comfortable chair.
