"Since you're here," you smile, "can I get you anything to eat or drink?"

Tanya chuckles. "Thank you, but no. I'm good. Anyway, I'm looking for this Iosif Kulinsky. He's a gangster that vanished from the old Soviet Union 20 years back."

"Probably into an early grave," you laugh. "And not all in one piece. Like Jimmy Hoffa, buried under the end zone of the Meadowlands."

Tanya giggles. "Yep, I've heard that rumor for years. But there's certain circumstantial evidence that Mr. Kulinsky escaped that fate and is now hiding in New York City."

You let out a guffaw. "A Soviet gangster hiding out in America at the height of the Cold War? He'd stick out like a sore thumb and be ID'd within a day. All the neighbors would say `Hey, Jimmy, check out the goof who's talking like Boris.'"

Tanya's face turns serious. "This wasn't your ordinary gangster. He could speak several languages, including perfect English."

You nod. "I'll ask around. See if any of my tenants have heard anything."

Tanya puts a business card on the desk. "Call me any time if you do. My cell is always on." You show her out.
