You use your cutest voice to tell them "Well - I'm really nervous about all this and I can't really fall asleep by myself so.." you cut yourself off and pretend to be embarrassed. then, suddenly you have no lack for company as all of the soldiers crowd around you. Some of them are trying to console you with faces and voices that would make any normal girl cry even harder, not that you're crying in the first place.
You act as if you feel better with them around and chat with them a bit. You soon learn that they were pulled from various armed forces in the country and most of them are total strangers to each other, as you thought, they were hand picked for their looks. What you say doesn't really match what you think though "I-I see, then I guess I m not the only one nervous around here" you sigh with fake relief. "So.. why did they send soldiers from all over rather than a group who knows each other well?". At that question they look down, they obviously know the reason.
One of them comes up with something better than the truth tho "We were hand-picked for your royal highness offcourse!" the others smirk a little at that - its not like he told a lie really... You take the chance to be utterly and completely fooled. "I see - That explains why all of you look a little scary, you must all be really strong warriors" you conclude in a cheery voice. They look down at looking scary, but they seem to like your explanation for it. Probably beats being thought of as scarecrows.
They soon bite the bait and start telling you war stories, most of which you suspect to be quite fictional. You act really impressed and tell them you're overjoyed that they went trough the trouble of gathering such elite soldiers for your royal guard. They entertain you with their war stories for the rest of the evening until you retire for the night. They expect you to go up to your room, but instead you just grab a nearby soldier and use him for an arm-pillow. You snuggle up comfortably and soon fall asleep. While your eyes are closed and you can't actually see it, you can just about imagine the blush on the soldier's face. As well as the surprise and jealousy of the other soldiers.
