"Thanks," says the cat, Rover. Strange name for a cat. He hops up onto the seat and grins at you. "So, where ya headed?"
"Varden Town," you say.
He looks surprised. "Oh? Do you have friends there?"
"No," you say.
"Have you ever been to Varden Town before?" he asks.
"No."
"Do you know anything about the town?"
"No. Why?" you ask, suddenly unnerved by his strange line of questioning.
"No reason," he says with a carefree grin. "Just making conversation. I've passed through Varden Town many times on my travels. It's a nice place. You'll like it there. I think. Where are you staying?"
"I don't know," you say. "I guess I'll worry about it when I get there."
"You're joking!" Rover exclaims, then he starts to laugh. "Man, that's the craziest thing I've ever heard."
