Take mikey and get out of the house as fast as you can

From Create Your Own Story

You don't need more urging than that. You grab Mikey by the hand and pull him behind you as you make your way out of the house. Into the rain and dark you go, rushing across the lawn, pulling the boy behind you despite his crying and protests that you go back and save the man. You can't. You won't. It's not worth the risk.

You shove Mikey into the car and then jump into the driver's seat, driving back to Mrs. Park's place as fast as you can. Pulling into the drive, you see the window open, and you shut off the car. "Mikey, get out of the car and run to the window on the front porch as fast as you can," you tell him. "Do not stop. Do not look back. Go."

You step out of the car just as Mikey does, and as he takes off running across the lawn, a blister-faced woman charges at you, a butcher's knife in her hand. "Run Mikey!" you yell, swinging the bat at the woman and knocking her to the ground. Another man lumbers at you from the shadows, and as you back towards the house, you swing the bat and drop him to the lawn. As lightning strikes through the sky and thunder crackles, you can see that the two on the lawn seem to be the only crazies around, and you decide not to risk them getting up. As Mikey climbs in through the window, you clobber the both of them again with the bat, smashing open their heads. No point in risking it.

You're in through the window not long after, drenched and panting, but little worse for wear. Your heart pounds, but you feel a certain bit of heroism pulsing in your veins and Mrs. Park wraps her boy in her arms and the two seem happy to be reunited.

"What now?" Melanie asks, shutting the window and locking it. "Do we leave? Do we stay?"
