Cast a spell with your hands tied

From Create Your Own Story

You attempt to weave the spell, but although you summon the energies, with your hands bound, you cannot draw the spell together. The effects leave you racked and aching.

The crowd watch, with curious contempt. “You are indeed entertaining!” declares the chief Elvin with a clap of his hands. He turns a wheel in the air. “How delightful!”

With a gesture to his fellows, three more approach. You ready yourself for blows – but instead, they open your pack. The Elvin root through your things with brutal efficiency, taking what they fancy and tossing the rest back at you. Then they pick you up, and carry you out of the village, leaving you in a pile on the side of the path like a sack of waste.

You try to stand, but your legs are still tied. You topple to your knees. The Elvin, turning at the sound, laugh loudly. You call out after them, asking that they at least free you so you can walk. Almost as an afterthought, one returns with a bared knife. For a moment he holds it near your throat – then slices the bonds around your arms. And then he turns, and runs off into the trees.

You stand slowly, battered and bruised. You rub the blood back into your wrists. Then finally you look through your pack to see what you’ve lost.

Still, there are small mercies. You still have your neck. Shouldering your pack, you start to walk once more.

You hurry away from the scene of your humiliation, and reach a prairie with grass up to your waist. The going is much easier out in the open and you make quick progress for once, striding ahead of your lazy shadow.

You walk briskly through the grass across the prairie, until you foot kicks something – something that makes a clink noise. It is a pouch of gold pieces – an excellent find! But as you place it in your backpack, you discover that some things have gone missing – several of your rations are no longer there!
