Major Characters of The Pinchers:
Glassy Glosser
Glassy is the Pinchers' founder and guitarist. He is originally from Indiana, but moved to Pennsylvania after his longtime love, Ruth, left him. He is a friendly person, and always tries to look on the positive side of things, although his bandmates sometimes bring him down. He also assumes the role as the 'leader' and 'peacekeeper' of The Pinchers and the Pinch Mansion.
In 2002, after being broken up with Ruth for over 30 years, his bandmates re-united the two, and they were married soon after. He is very proud of his large guitar collection, including his prized Gibson Les Paul, a wedding gift from Ruth.
Glossy Glasser
Not to be confused with Glassy Glosser, Glossy Glasser is The Pinchers' vocalist. He is the only member of the band to be originally from Brosburg, and the only member to not play an instrument. He is generally a nice guy, but he can sometimes be a control-freak.
He was the first member of the band to get married, marrying his current wife, Jackie, in 1985. Aside from being in The Pinchers, Glossy is also a successful solo artist. He, like the rest of the band, resides in the Pinch Mansion.
Patchmo Parmesian
Patchmo is the oldest member of the band. He has very little hair left on his head (which he hides by wearing his trade-mark bowler hat), and is sometimes described as...'fat.' He is originally from Colorodo, and he plays sax in the band, and sometimes singing background vocals.
At the end of A Very Pinchy Honeymoon, Glassy announces that he and his longtime girlfriend, Sally, are going to be married. Patchmo is described by others as 'a romantic,' something that Sally can agree with. Patchmo is also the only member of the band to not have a driver's liscense, preferring to drive his red scooter. He is a nice person, but is generally sarcastic.
Jaq Haro
Jaq (pronounced Jacque), is the only member of the band to not be from America - he was born in Paris, France. He plays keyboards with The Pinchers, and sometimes bass guitar. Jaq is a friendly person, who means well, but has a bad habit of opening his mouth at bad times, and revealing secret plans when he shouldn't.
Jaq also has a girlfriend, Samantha Harashka, a girl almost 20 years younger than him. He also has strange habits among the band, such as over-brewing coffee, swimming at 3:00 AM, and and pretending to be a member of 'The Society of Surprises', in order to get into parties. He is also considered to be the pest billiards player in the group.
Sean Solko
Sean is The Pinchers' drummer and 'Texan-in-residence', as he was once described. Sean is a very quiet person, who knows when to keep his mouth shut. He also has a problem - he is the only member of the band to not have a girlfriend, something that he thinks about a lot.
Before joining The Pinchers', Sean worked as a janitor, cleaning floors at a local school. He enjoys playing The Sims 2, along with relaxing on a raft in a pool on hot days. He has a weakness for the combination of pizza and beer.
Jackie Glasser
Jackie is the wife of Glossy Glasser, and has been since they married in 1985. The two met on The Pinchers' 1982 tour, and began to date, eventually marrying in late 1985. She lives with Glossy at the Pinch Mansion, being the first woman to live in the mansion.
Jackie is a generally friendly person, but can get extremely angry when people go through her items without her permission. Jackie also enjoys writing romance novels and spending time with the girlfriends of the other Pinchers.
Ruth Glosser
Ruth is Glassy Glosser's wife. In late 1960's, before The Pinchers even existed, Glassy and Ruth dated until one day, Ruth decided to leave Glassy, stating that he was worth nothing and would never get a band together. She then headed to Miami, Florida, where she stayed until 2002, when Jackie, Jaq and Glossy re-united Glassy and Ruth. The two were married in June of 2002.
Ruth is very caring and kind, and loves to cheer up those around her. When she is not with Glassy, she enjoys gardening and taking trips with Glassy to spa's. The story of Glassy and Ruth's break-up was also the topic of The Pincher's first #1 hit, 'Ruth', back in 1980.
Sally Shalambis
Sally Shalambis is Patchmo's girlfriend and wife-to-be. The two met in the mid 1980's, and have been going out ever since. At the end of A Very Pinchy Honeymoon, Patchmo reveals that he had proposed to Sally, although there is currently no date for the wedding.
Sally spends almost all of her time with Patchmo, although she tends sometimes to 'control' Patchmo, telling him what to do, and occasionally scolding him. Sally also spends some time with Jackie and Ruth, and plays in her own band, 'Feetshould Tack.'
Samantha Harashka
Samantha is Jaq's girlfriend. The two have been going out for only a few years, and not much is known about how the two met. She is only 35 years old, while Jaq is almost 20 years older (53), but their age difference does not effect their passionate relationship.
Samantha loves going shop, especially with Jaq, since Jaq will pretty much buy Samantha whatever she wants. And like Sally, she also plays guitar in her own band, 'The Stars.'
Minor/Recurring Characters:
Tony Hawkatuna
Tony is a friend of The Pinchers, who, like the band, lives in Brosburg. He makes money by running a website which sells used merchandise and goods, and is often displayed as a rather smart and wise individual. Typically, the band will come to him if they have a major problem, or something that needs repaired.
He also has a girlfriend, Janice, who appears briefly in A Very Pinchy Wedding.
Pete and Patty Parmesian
Patchmo's brother and sister are also citizens of Brosburg, who live together in a house on the edge of town. Pete is a bartender, while Patty works at a make-up kiosk in the Brosburg Mall. While Patty isn't the extremely social type, Pete spends some of his time hanging around Patchmo and the other Pinchers, enjoying playing cards with them and attending their parties and get-togethers.
Pinchers Trivia/Facts:
- Each of the members has their own favorite bands:
* Glassy Glosser: Van Halen * Glossy Glasser: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers * Patchmo Parmesian: The Blue Hippie Band (fictional) * Jaq Haro: Rod Stewart * Sean Solko: The Eagles/Don Henley
- Some of The Pinchers' favorite activities include swimming on very hot days, playing Grand Theft Auto on the PS2, having jam sessions, and going to clubs and bars in downtown Brosburg.
- A Very Pinchy Wedding, the novel that first featured The Pinchers, was one of the first Independent Works to not be about some mode of transportation. Others to 'break the transportation theme', released around that time were Gifted, and Fading Away.
- Originally, The Pinchers were to be featured in a trilogy of books, including A Very Pinchy Wedding, A Very Pinchy Honeymoon, and the unreleased A Very Pinchy First Year. However, A Very Pinchy First Year was never released, instead replaced with A Very Pinchy Life. Currently, there is a small bit of A Very Pinchy First Year written, which may be released in the future.
