Terror of the Trolls is a sprite comic in production by YellowYoshi398. As of now, eight issues of Terror of the Trolls has been released.

Plot

What has been seen of Terror of the Trolls involves Xzelion storming into a bizarre Airship/castle known as Peachycakes's Flying Fortress, where he encounters Peachycakes herself. The two then engage in a duel, which Peachycakes seems to ultimately win, knocking Xzelion into a pool of searing lava with her Ground Pound maneuver. However, after she does so, she leaves the room in the fortress, allowing Xzelion to safely come out of the lava; it is said that it will never be revealed exactly how he survived. Though his mission in the Flying Fortress seemed to be far from over at the time, Xzelion decided it was best to jump out of the place, ending Issue One of the comic. As Issue Two opens with a brief flashback sequence, Xzelion leaps out of the Flying Fortress, landing in a "discrete MarioWiki location". Accessing one of Porplemontage's offices from the area, Xzelion reports his failure to Steve, who gruffly tells him to "go home". Following this order, Xzelion ran away from the office, popping up in front of his house at Leet Town in Issue Three. After requesting that someone let him in, his brother Paper Luigi DS appeared, very surprised that Xzelion, "the sysop", would ever show himself at the household. This confused Xzelion, who was soon mumblingly told that, after he left (apparently three years before the setting of Terror of the Trolls) to do sysop work in other parts of the MarioWiki, his brothers had had a terrible time maintaining the house in his absence and his family had soon fallen to ruin. As such unspeakable horror had been done at Xzelion's hands, his brothers disowned him; PLDS ended up leaving his brother to lie on the doorstep. Issue Four showed Xzelion complaining to himself near one of Leet Town's fountains, sarcastically indicating his restlessness by saying "It's not like anything's about to explode here". Perhaps humorously, the scene then cut to Leet Town Tower, where YellowYoshi398 was washing windows. As he did so, a small, white object landed on his harness; he soon identified this object as "a tank of PROPANE!". The object then brilliantly exploded, engulfing the tower in flame and seemingly killing YellowYoshi398. Xzelion and Paper Luigi DS (seemingly making up for their past argument) then both heard the noise, and, after Xzelion regained the Yoshi form he had seemingly used before the setting of the comic, rushed off towards the tower. (It is worthy of note that YellowYoshi398 has stated that this issue marked the start of the actual plotline of Terror of the Trolls, earlier issues simply being present to set up things such as character development.) Xzelion and PLDS were strangely absent in Issue Five, which exclusively featured HK-47 performing a 'Shroom Live report on the tower's explosion. He here talked to Smiddle (who simply revealed that the explosion had come from outside Leet Town Tower, a fact already known to viewers), Confused (who, being a firefighter in Terror of the Trolls, had discovered the propane tank used in the tower attack and revealed that it had been modified and changed into a highly dangerous explosive), and Knife (who expressed a firm disbelief in anything out-of-the-ordinary about the destruction of Leet Town Tower, which he happened to own). Perhaps humorously in comparison to Knife's preceding comments, the next scene showed Peachycakes and her right-hand-man Willy on Wheels working on a large cannon of theirs, subtly revealing that it was the Trolls who had bombed Leet Town Tower. It was here that Issue Five ended, although Issue Six started right back up at the same scene with Peachycakes demanding that WoW hurry up on readying her cannon. He was soon finished, and Peachycakes (after sending Willy below the decks of her Flying Fortress) gave one last sinister mumble as the scene switched back to Leet Town Tower, where Paper Luigi DS and Xzelion had just arrived, interrupting HK's newscast. The angry anchorman commanded them to leave, but Xzelion refused and an argument soon began. While this happened, the Bomb Cannon was seemingly activated, as a huge, flaming Bob-omb hit the camera's lens, thus ending the show. Wayoshi, the 'Shroom Live's cameraman, told HK-47 of the tragedy before noting that several more Bob-ombs were falling from the sky. At this, HK led the others in abandoning the set and running away. The next comic simply depicted the then-quartet walking across the Sandland Desert and eventually reaching Jazz Jungle, where Xzelion and PLDS sent the others to work while they "faked tired poses" with then-unknown intentions. The next comic showed 3dejong and Max2 racing away in a blue car, revealing through their speech that they, too, were escaping the Trolls bombing Leet Town. They eventually trailed off in their conversation, getting distracted and humorously shooting the breeze to the point of worthlessly arguing over their nicknames. Shortly afterward, 3D drove them off of a cliff by accident due to the distraction, and the scene cut back to Xzelion and PLDS, showing that their intentions were to discuss past issues that they had missed. After they did this, Xzelion declared that they should return to Wayoshi and HK-47, and they walked off. It is unknown what will happen in the future.

Plot Style

The storytelling style of Terror of the Trolls will be largely serious, as indicated by the fierce battle and near-death seen in Issue One. However, even the first issue indicates a lightheartedness that will be continued throughout the comic with Peachycakes stating that she had destroyed Xzelion "just in time for 60 Minutes". Several jokes such as these will be continued throughout the span of the comic, which will indeed include a large amount of humor and in-jokes even within its destruction and darkness.

Visual Style

The sprites of the many Users seen in this comic will actually be rather mixed in style; YellowYoshi398 plans to use the sprites most preferred by their User owners. Most of the sprites will therefore be in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga style (for most human Users) or Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island style (for Yoshis), though there will be several other sprite styles. Almost all backgrounds and tiles will be taken from Super Mario World and the Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 3.
