  • Oberlin Shansi invites applications for the position of Program Manager. This is a full-time, 12-month Administrative and Professional position reporting to the Executive Director of Oberlin Shansi.
  • Responsibilities: The incumbent will have responsibility for working with the Oberlin Shansi Visiting Scholars program, including assisting the scholars with visa letters, travel arrangements, orientation and mentoring once they arrive in Oberlin; staffing the Visiting Scholars committee of the Board; managing the special student programs including those that bring undergraduates from Asia to Oberlin and those that send groups of Oberlin students to Shansi partner institutions in Asia for faculty-led Winter Term study; managing the Oberlin faculty/staff grant program; managing the Global Education Program; assisting the Executive Director with fund raising tasks such as organizing major donor visits and follow-up as well as grant and donor research; assisting with publicity including writing stories for Shansi publications such as the newsletter and the website.
  • Requirements: The applicant must possess an advanced degree in Asian studies or international relations/ communications; fluency in an Asian language such as Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, Tamil or Hindi; familiarity with Asian cultures as well as cross cultural awareness and sensitivity; a working knowledge of word processing programs, and general computer skills and demonstrated organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills and be team-oriented and self-motivated. Preference will be given to candidates with experience living abroad in Asia.
