Vashti Bunyan

From Geartome

circa 2006

  • Guitars: "Bunyan’s main guitar is an 1886 Martin parlor that her son gave to her before she began work on Lookaftering. “I thought I couldn’t play guitar anymore,” Bunyan says. “So I was teaching this person that I considered a ‘real’ guitarist how to play the parts, when it dawned on me that, of course, Diamond Day sounded the way it did because of how I play guitar --- and I can’t teach somebody to play like that. Maybe I don’t play it very well—I’m plinkety and rather jerky—but I decided to have a go at it myself. That way, it could get back to Diamond Day and still be of now.”"
