Rubsign
From Cths
A rubsign as it's colloquially referred to, is a means of identification and categorizing Cybertronian citizens. Something like an ID card or license, every bot is required to have one if they intend to do the following:
- Drive or fly their alt-mode in public
- Attend school
- Travel outside of Cybertron
- Do anything, really.
Rubsigns are not visible all the time. When necessary that people in positions of authority inspect an individual's sign, they use a small device that emits upper-spectrum ultraviolet light that almost borders on x-ray wavelengths, causing them to appear. However, due to complexities in programming, rubsigns have evolved into another means of body language, and has been seen to convey emotions similar to excitement and fear. Individuals have very little control over when their signs appear (much like humans and profuse sweating or blushing). This phenomena is known to be a source of embarrassment at times.
It's generally accepted that a bot's first sign is wiped on at the beginning of their third phase. This, coupled with the overwhelming amounts of programming that a spark must generate to fully integrate itself into the new chassis often results in an awkward phase humans would laughably call puberty.
