Erik Morton

From Cths

Erik is a co-writer for the CTHS Comic.

Erik Morton is a human ally of the Autobots here on Earth. His main base of operations has been Massachusetts for several years, but really he moves all over the gorram place. Typically he’s outgoing and friendly, and favors loyalty to those he knows more than anything else. His interests include gaming (in all its myriad forms), good movies, bad movies, drawing, playing soccer, speedy blue rodents, just general hanging around, and of course, like everyone else, he digs giant robots.

History

Some might say that Erik led a sheltered life, growing up in the countryside of Idaho. Some might say that those saying the first saying are right. Erik would say that they’re all crazy, and then go back to his nice and sheltered life. He attended several schools over the course of his pre-college academic career, including a disastrous stint in a Catholic school (he’s not Catholic) from third to fourth grade. The jarring memories of those terrible, terrible children still haunt him to this day, and are the reason he came to know that there is no god. Eventually he was part of the first graduating class at a small private school, where he met his girlfriend and love of his life.

Erik then attended his first two years of college at Williams College in Massachusetts, where he began a long term long distance relationship with his girlfriend in D.C.. During his Junior year, he attended Lancaster University in England, continuing the long distance relationship with his girlfriend who was then attending school in London.

During one of his long train rides down to London, the train came to a sudden and jarring halt. Erik was thrown from his seat, and when he could finally look out the window he was able to see that a giant purple and grey robot had picked up the engine and was walking away with it. Due to his amateur infatuation with giant robots (made all the more so by news stories featuring Earth’s Cybertronian visitors), Erik was able to recognize this particular giant robot as the Decepticon Astrotrain. Why he wanted the engine was never made clear, because it was at that moment that a larger white transformer arrived and cold-cocked him. Erik automatically recognized the impressive Skyfire, and was in complete awe of his situation… Up until the point Astrotrain landed on his train.

Erik next woke up aboard the Autobot ship/headquarters: The Ark. It turned out that Skyfire felt guilty for the people in the train cars who’d gotten hurt, and he panicked. He flew them all straight to the Autobot HQ, and most of them were seen to and helped home. Erik was among the last few to wake up, and so he was still there a couple of days later when the Decepticons chose to retaliate.

He was quickly herded into a corner for his own protection, and it was there that he met Lauren Baker, an extremely assertive individual who seemed to regard the Ark as her home. Pleasantries were exchanged, and eventually the Decepticons were driven off (with lots of cheering by the humans from the sidelines) and Skyfire came back to find his ward.

Erik was able to convince the Autobots (really it was quite easy given most of their personalities) to let him hang out at the Ark for a while longer. He phoned his girlfriend to let her know he was alright, and then began to explore the alien ship. He came upon Lauren and Skyfire talking, and joined in on the conversation. It seemed Sky had a lot to get off of his chest (enough to cause Erik to wish he was a paid therapist), and Erik and Lauren just happened to be around. After a while, it wasn’t quite so bad, and in fact hearing his tales of his childhood began to make some of the facets of the interstellar war come clear. The stories involved were too good to pass up, and after a little bit more discussion and much messaging back and forth over DA (Erik did have to go back to finish the year in England after all), Erik and Lauren slowly began to put it all to paper… and cyberspace.

And thus was CTHS born.
