All Spark's Eve can be considered a Cybertronian equivalent to Halloween. Youngsters of all ages shed their kibble and don costumes after nightfall to mimic their favorite characters, scare people, look sexy, make people laugh, or show off their costume engineering skills.

History

All Spark's Eve has been a Cybertronian tradition for longer than any archive has ever been backdated. Celebration of the deceased coupled with ritualistic costumes as well as the macabre overtones of the holiday in general lead many historians to believe that it dates back to some near-primitive, chaotic period in Transformer history. Cultural psychologists have suggested a connection between All Spark's Eve and a supposed revolt of the Transformers against their fearsome, alien masters, though due to the scant evidence to prove that such a struggle even took place at some point in pre-history, this is regarded as nothing more than theory among scholars.

Nevertheless, the residue of some ancient tradition manifests itself once a solar cycle, when the "firewall between worlds" is said to be weakest.

Traditions

Honoring the Dead

Every culture has a ritual that does just this. This aspect of the holiday has been played down for several generations, though some of the more esoterically and religiously inclined will often make an altar in remembrance of deceased loved ones. They're usually decorated with lights and representations of the individual like photos, holos, or some physical thing of theirs. Some regions will even go so far as to have festivals based on this idea.

Costumes

Costumes are an important aspect to this holiday, though modern convention has deviated far from it's theoretical roots in the belief of the supernatural. Due to the supposed worlds of the living and offline being close enough to converge at this time of year, historians have generally accepted that fantastic costumes evolved from the belief that they would scare away malicious spirits.

Motifs

Part of the mood and decor of this holiday is everything dark and scary. Some popular motifs include:

  • Rust
  • Spark fluid
  • Scraplets
  • Body parts
  • Siphons
  • Wrecked vehicle modes
  • The undead
