You sit nervously at the table, next to your boozy-breathed counsel, and the prosecutor sits bolt upright at her table, glowing with life. The judge orders everyone to stand, and the twelve good men and women file in, looking straight ahead as they do.

The judge asks if they have reached a unanimous verdict?

The foreman says they have.

The judge tells them to pronounce it.

The foreman says that they find the defendant NOT GUILTY.

After a little more legal verbosity, the judge dismisses the jury and leaves. Doc heads back to the office to brag about his fantastic win. You leave him to it - you'll pay his bill in the morning. You're a free man.

Your apartment's neat - Whitley's gone and so's her lingerie, but at least she didn't leave you a mess. And maybe you're better off without her. If not, her trail's pretty hot, and you can get some help to find her. And if so, you've got all the time in the world to decide how you want to live now. New girls, new sex adventures? Stability and commitment? Or take time alone for now? Probably it's best to leave this town, but you've still got your job, and if you could work from here, you can work from anywhere. You've learned some valuable lessons from this trial. Later on you'll think of what they are.

The big thing is, you got off without a stain on your character. Or your underwear.
