There's a crowd shuffle for the doors and lines form up outside the bathrooms - this is an old courthouse, and a small one, so there's only one pair of "facilities" out in the main hall. Eventually, you take care of business, and meet back up with Doc in the empty courtroom.
Well, he's more awake than he was to start with. That's good. He hasn't been perfect, but this isn't the time to tell him off - he's got a defense to put on. And the big thing is your positive case, and Whitley. She'll confirm the golden balls were hers, and as much detail as you need for what you were doing after the orgy. Probably a lot more than you need. The big thing is, you were too naked to be hiding anything. So was she. No need to panic, or put your lawyer in a panic.
"You okay, Doc?"
"Sure I am. I'm gonna get a BLT. Wanna come along?"
"No, I'm not really hungry. I'll wait for you here. But after you're through, let's just run over the facts with Whitley again."
"Right." He leaves. You lie back in your chair and do some deep-breathing exercises.
And then you notice something. The DA has left her briefcase at her counsel table.
Now, the contents are really none of your business, and you doubt there are any secrets that would help you win the case. Still - no one's here, no one's had time to get back from lunch, and who knows? It might give you some insight into her thinking. But what if someone did walk in? Oh, temptation...
