The man stands fast for a moment, his eyes locked on yours. Then a moment later he has darted away. The rest of the huts stay still and silent; their inhabitants have witnessed the scene, and are content to leave you be.
You stride on into the very centre of the village. There are a few larger houses here – even Poonani has its nobility, it seems. But the only spot of interest is a small inn offering food for sale.
