The Echidna Tale/Arachne Christina

From Create Your Own Story

The swarm hadn't consumed any minds, and was currently simply operating by instinct only. This was risky; if they simply attacked the first victim they saw, one of the family members might escape, alerting others who might the woman before she could be turned into a brood mother. Deciding to tip the odds into your favour a bit, you gave the swarm a very specific set of instructions to follow.

---

The family's father, Jonathan, was the first victim. Waking up to a thousand little spiders biting him, he found himself paralysed, unable to move or shout. The swarm worked quickly and efficiently, encasing him into a thick cocoon, covering everything but the upper head. Within a few minutes, the swarm had already moved to do the same to the children, Oliver and Thea. Eyes wide open in horror, they watched as the swarm approached their mother.

Christina was awakened the same way as the rest of her family. Sleeping defenselessly on her back, she felt thousands of tiny fangs piercing her skin. Opening her eyes and trying to scream, she saw a black blanket covering her body. A squirming, moving blanket. When she realised what she was covered with, she almost fainted of horror and disgust.

She spiders began entering her body through her every orifice. They marched in through her mouth, through nostrils, her ears, her vagina and her ass. They did it quickly and efficiently, as if every single spider in the swarm had a specific, predetermined role. She could only move her eyeballs, watching the nightmarish scene unfold. She could feel everything: the spiders entering her throat, crawling around inside her ear canals, filling her rectum and skittering into her womb. Christina felt like she was going to have an heart attack; she wanted this to be a nightmare, but it felt far too real to be just a dream.

The very last of the spiders made its way in, and for a moment, nothing seemed to happen. Then it began.

She felt her mind being consumed, absorbed and assimilated by the swarm. The spiders inside her head were carefully digging through her brain mass, picking her mind apart. Her paralysis weakening, Christina could quietly whimper as the spiders, slowly and efficiently consumed the grey mass that formed her mind. Eventually screaming as her consciousness burst into random sights and smells, her memories half-gone and eaten. Her family struggled, trying to break the cocoons they were in as Christina sobbed and screamed. Her shouts were soon silenced, her brain completely consumed.

Minutes passed, the only sound in the house being the muffled sounds the survivors of the family desperately made, trying to get their voice heard despite the silk covering their mouths. The swarm inside Christina, however, worked hard. The swarm was rebuilding the woman's mind, keeping her body alive, her heart pumping as they worked as a substitute brain. Each individual spider working as a cluster of neurons, they formed telepathic links, synaptic connections to each other. Christina's consciousness was formed again, mixed with the swarm's genetic code, the instructions built inside them. The swarm saw through Christina's eyes, breathed through her nostrils, thought with her brain; they were now merged, the woman and the swarm a single being.

The arachne knew of its terrifying purpose, and as the very last links between the swarm and her body were made, she smiled. Her family, eyes wide in shock and terror, watched her slowly and awkwardly step out of her bed and start undressing.

She would need a lot of organic matter to become a brood mother. She would have to eat, first, and she looked around the room, she realised that her food had been prepared for her. Slowly walking towards Jonathan, the arachne's mouth started to change. The spiders inside of her triggering a metamorphosis, her mouth grew larger, her teeth venomous and sharp as daggers. Jonathan whimpered as he looked at what used to be his wife. The arachne, unable to speak human words with a mouth like hers, made a hungry, shrieking sound as she bit through the silk cocoon into the flesh of her former self's husband.

Jonathan died swiftly, but the arachne kept eating messily and hungrily. The room was filled with disgusting sound of raw flesh being consumed and bones being crunched, with the muffled sobs of the children on barely audible. She consumed the majority of her husband's remains, her stomach bulging like it was about to burst. Finally she had enough material to complete herself, her naked body covered with blood and bits of flesh.

Moving to the center of the room and going on all fours, she started modifying her body, her husband's flesh and bone as the raw construction material. Her lower body started bulging, turning black and hairy. She sprouted four pairs of long insectoid legs even as her back was still forming, enlarging itself to make space for the hundreds of thousands of eggs. The metamorphosis lasted for a good half an hour, her children watching in pure horror. She grew a spinneret and a thick needle, extending from her new womb, capable of bursting through flesh and depositing eggs to a host body. Letting out a victorious, piercing shriek, she moved back to the corpse of her husband, consuming the rest of it.

She rested for the next twenty-four hours, ignoring the muffled cries of the children near her. Finally, she felt she had formed enough eggs. Knowing she needed children, servants to hunt for her and groom her, she slowly moved towards the two kids, piercing their stomachs with her needle, depositing thousands of tiny eggs inside of their bodies as they struggled in pain and terror...
