"With all this rain, the sewer has to be a bad idea. I say we find a car and high tail it to the shelter." You give her a shrug. Not completely up to you, but those are your thoughts.
"Fine," Karen says, pulling her backpack onto her shoulders. We head downstairs, and we find a car. First reasonable ride we see we get in and we don't look back."
"Can you hot wire a car?"
"Yeah," she says, lifting up the shotgun she carries and resting it over her shoulder. "You ready?"
You nod, and the two of you make your way out of the apartment. Just as you shut the door behind you, you can hear more maniacal laughter coming from your neighbors place. This time, the door is ajar, and you can clearly here a woman inside laughing madly.
Karen begins to quietly move down the hall.
