Talk:My Little Pony: Adventures is Magic

From Create Your Own Story

Please note, your comment, "DO NOT EDIT OR COPY AT ALL! OR THE TEAM OF STORYWRITERS WILL HOLD EXTREME FEES AGAINST YOU IN A LAW OF COURT FOR PLAGIARIZING", is meaningless. You may want to familiarize yourself with Copyright and the associated laws before posting things you do not understand.

First, Plagiarizing is not illegal. Plagiarism can become illegal when it crosses the line into copyright infringement, but by itself is an ethical issue, not a legal issue. You are attempting to claim copyright protections.

Second, you cannot claim copyright on incomplete works. It must meet not only a "Threshold of originality" but it must also be a "fixed" work, meaning it is complete as written.

Next, your statement does not allow for what is called "Fair use" or "fair dealing". Part or entire elements of works can be used, quite legally, for things falling under these categories.

Last, for legal enforcement of copyright, you must register with the copyright office. You can claim copyright, and own it, on unregistered works, but you must have it registered to pursue damage claims for infringement. You also need to prove actual damages, which I don't think you will be able to do for your fan-fiction oriented "My Little Pony".

Please also note, given that My Little Pony is trademarked, you also put yourself at risk of Trademark Infringement. Please check the facts before you start putting up notices you do not understand, and let me know if you want me to point you at the appropriate laws and court proceedings to learn more about your rights under copyright.

Your comment has been removed under grounds of copyfraud. Please familiarize yourself with your copyright rights before overclaiming your rights, because, well, it is annoying and makes you look silly... --Dirty Me 06:04, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
