Take the train tunnels, just as you planned.

"Train tunnels," you say, stepping over the blood and out onto the platform. "All the power is out, so we don't have to worry about the trains or the third rail." You hop down off the platform and onto the rail line, then turn to offer Claire a hand. She grabs hold of it, and hops down after you.
"You know which one will take us to 9th?" She asks. You click on your flashlight and shine it above both of the tunnels. The left tunnel says 13th Street, and the right says Major Boulevard.
"Major runs across 9th, and that would get us much closer, but if people started trying to flee the city, then there will be cars and who knows what else piled up on the Boulevard. 13th puts us walking four streets, but maybe less to be wary of."
"Unless nobody gave an evacuation order. I didn't hear one, did you?" You shake your head no. "Then maybe there's nothing on the Boulevard," she says, shrugging. "I don't know. Up to you."
