Take a hurried shot, not risking him shooting you or Amir first

From Create Your Own Story

You and the enemy sniper fire at the same time. Both bullets travel from their rifles, over the ambush site, and into the targets. Your shot hits it's mark dead on, the enemy sniper collapsing after the near-perfect head-shot. The Soviet's shot, however, merely grazes it's target, and brushes against your check before passing mostly harmlessly past you and Amir. The bullet leaves a thick bloody line across your left check, and you are in tremendous pain. Amir confirms the enemy sniper as neutralized, and then quickly rushes up to you. He puts pressure on your wound, and looks down to the ambush area. You start to feel lightheaded from both the adrenaline and loss of blood. The mujaheddin have eliminated the Soviets, and were now shooting the wounded. Amir shouts down to your comrades below in a deep, echoing voice. "We need a medic up here, right now!" He helps you to your feet, and walks with you down to the medic. "You are going to be alright..." You black out.

You wake up later surrounded by doctors, who tell you that you will recover within the week. Two months later, the Soviets withdrew from your country, leaving after ten years of war. You spend the rest of your life with a constant reminder of their occupation on across your face, and you never forget those who lost a whole lot more than some blood and skin from their cheek.
