Take Edward hostage

You aim your pistol at Edward's head, yelling : "Try something stupid and I kill him!" The Pirate King's son glances at you with vague puzzlement, but not a trace of fear. He just looks... bored.
Some of the guards take aim, but their commander barks at them : "Don't! Edward the Red is too precious! If he dies, we lose our only means of pressure over the Pirate King!"
"Better get out of our way," you say.
The commander hesitates. "Do as he says," he orders at last.
Of course, you know they must be preparing to set a trap of some sort, so you stay wary as you march Edward along the corridors and up the stairs. The guards leave the way open, but keep their muskets pointed at you and your men. No doubt they're preparing to shoot as soon as your hostage is in no immediate danger.
You reach the top of the stairs... and feel the cold muzzle of a musket pressing against your temple.
"Drop your gun," whispers the musket's owner, a burly guard with a large facial scar.
