Ramius requests you to join the crew briefly. He tells you his plan to suffocate Putin and replace the real orders with his own fake ones, which call for the ship to go high speed into the Atlantic rather than engaging with Capt. Tupolev. The plan also calls for strict radio silence, and quick mission to boot. It is a perfect setup.
After some while, Ramius has gotten rid of Putin by suffocating him. He also shows you to his second-in-command, Borodin, who is a collaborator with Ramius in defecting. Borodin raises the possibility of a KGB/GRU agent on ship who can spoil their plans and recognize you as an American. You better watch out.
