Scene 4) Library

Emily enters the library. It is just about closing time.

Libby: Sorry, but we’re just about to close our doors. Emily: Please no! I’ve been running around all day! I need to find out who this bracelet belongs to! I need to solve this mystery! Libby: Did you say, “mystery”? Emily: I did…. Libby: Well that’s a horse of a different color! Come in come in! Please, what can I help you with? Emily: I have this bracelet. It’s an ID bracelet with a initials and numbers and a date and I need to find who its owner! Libby: O never thought Id see the day where I could sove a real mystery! We have an archive of old newspapers on the computer. You take one monitor, I’ll take another. We can cross reference the date with our location and the last name on the bracelet. Let’s get to it!

The two women sit at the computers and start typing furiously. As this happens, images appear on the screen, starting out slow, then picking up speed. Time is passing. As the music swells to a peak, an Image of a gravestone with a Canadian Flag appears. It has the name “Juliana Marie Jurgen Barnes”.

Libby: I’ve found something!

Emily comes to her computer screen. Reading from the monitor: Emily: ‘Juliana Marie passed quietly in her home in the outskirts of Calgary. Married to Jim Barnes of the Royal Canadian Air Force, she is survived by her daughter, Juliana.’ Libby: There’s a picture of the girl. Why does she look so familiar? Emily: Juliana...that was the name on the matchbox I found in my uncle’s cabin. She must be there. I’ve got to go.

Libby: Good luck! Emily exits. Libby: (to herself as someone else) Well done detective. (as herself) Thanks, captain. (She gives herself a high five)

Lights out.
