You quickly tell your entourage to dump the carriage and the servants, who don't have horses. They complain but you don't care and you set out accompanied by your 20 guards on horseback. Anyone witnessing your departure would mistake it for a raiding band instead of a bridal transport.

A few hours of galloping at full speed later, you arrive at a small village. its getting dark and the men are getting tired, so you decide to spend the night here. You're impatient to meet Dareth, but its a five-day trip to get to his castle. While you're convinced you can do it in three, even you aren't stupid enough to try and get there in one go.

The villagers who saw your approach meet you armed with farming tools and scared looks, all of the windows are closed and the doors shut tight. seems like the approach of a group of 20 heavily armed soldiers on horseback has them on edge quite a bit. They look fully ready to fight for their lives. Their quick reaction makes you wonder how common bandit raids are around here.

Command the farmers to lower their weapons in an authoritative voice

Have one of your guards explain to them that you're not bandits
