Duran's face darkens a bit when he tells you your destination. "Apparently, you'll be marrying a merchant from a forgotten noble lineage who made a fortune for himself by taking over a large part of the country's trade. He probably intends to restore his family name to its former glory through this marriage. I heard he's willing to pay off the entire country's debt and supply resources our army desperately needs, as well as provide goods to the border villages to help them rebuild after the last war. All in all, this is certainly an offer no one could pass up. Still sounds like you're getting sold off to some rich-ass noble to me, though." He sizes you up for a while after dropping that bomb. You stay still for a moment, thinking things over.
As you get your thoughts straight, it dawns on you that, although you may have been sold, the price this man paid for you was enough to buy an entire kingdom and then some. Of course, through marrying you, he becomes the crown-prince, so he did buy a kingdom which would make you the 'and then some'. Still, You realize this marriage will allow your country to prosper. Also, a man who built himself a financial empire of that magnitude from scratch certainly deserves your respect. You feel your heart pounding in your chest, part of you feels glad you can help your country to this extent. You have only ever served on the battlefield, killing your country's enemies but you never got a chance such as this to actually help your countrymen rebuild. It would feel nice to do something constructive rather than destructive for a change. Of course, you still don't know what the man himself will be like and you'll have to spend the rest of your life with him.
