A year passes.

You look at yourself in the mirror: a fat, stubborn, lazy kid who has become one of the main citizens of Candy Mountain. In fact, you are already second-in-command, joining the ranks of the land’s government, and next-in-line to becoming the next king.

“Well, son,” says the fat, old king. “Aren’t you excited to rule this fantastic kingdom?”

“Definitely, father” you say automatically, chomping on your twentieth pile of candy for the day. “And the fair maiden shall be my princess.”

You point to the twitchy young girl licking the last of her fiftieth lollipop. Seeing you, she smiles her usual smile, with her famous cavities and rotting yellow teeth.

“Oh, what a wonderful life I have,” you tell your fat old man, laughing.
