You really don't want to risk changing out in the open, even if you are out on the open water. You try to tell the guys that you don't need to try wake boarding, but they won't hear it. You've come all this way and you saved the day for them to even be able to come. Finally, you agree to just go wake boarding in your clothes. It can't be worse than changing in public, you tell yourself.
You put on a life jacket as the guys try to explain what to do. Then you jump into the water. You have to try a couple of times before you get up, but on your third try you stand up. You don't try any tricks, but you stand up for a while before you lose your balance and crash into the water. Unfortunately, you keep holding on to the rope after you crash and get dragged along the water for several seconds. As the boat drags you, you feel your skirt being torn off by the water. You let go of the rope and reach down to get your skirt, but it's too late. It has disappeared somewhere behind you in the lake.
A minute later, the boat pulls up next to you. "Great job," Rich calls out. "Grab the rope and try again."
