Peek inside the small knothole

You climb up the old tree to the knothole only as large as your eye. You look around it and it doesn’t seem to be any animal’s home; in fact it looks like it was made by something drilling out from the inside of the tree.

There is nothing natural about this hole at all, but when you peak around inside, you see nothing. At least, at first you see nothing; when you look again, there’s a faint blue light in the center of the space. You can’t tell what it is, so you decide to stare at it a little while longer and it starts to glow brighter, but at a slow pace.

After a few seconds of nothing, yourself blinded by a flash of white light and wake up confused in a swirling blue vortex. Images fly past you, but none of them make sense. One is an explosion destroying a city, another is some French lady being burned at the stake, then you see some Chinese noblemen being slaughtered by men on horseback. So many images pass by you, such as the construction of the Eiffel Tower, footage of the Moon Landing, and the assassination of Julius Caesar, and you begin to process what this is.

You’ve never actually heard of one really existing, but it seems to be some sort of distortion in reality, specifically in time. You are traveling to the past, probably to some event related to this tree as it seems to be the epicenter. Now, if you want to, you can manipulate this time tunnel to travel to a different point in history, or go to the future. You can rule one of many possible futures, completely unimpeded, or you can try and create a different reality based on alternate history. Either way, turning back to wait for Brandon is not an option, unless you wish to be torn apart.
