Light's Cadence - Searching for the Desert Sands

You look around your current position to see a flag pole, standing proud over the plateau. It's fairly tall, and is on a hill, so you shouldn't have any problems searching the area surrounding the plateau.
You reach the base in good time, then wrap your arms around it and start to pull yourself up the long shaft. Several minutes of work later, you reach the halfway point. It is taller than you thought. The sun is sinking into the western horizon as you reach the top of the pole. There is enough light for you to see off in the south a band of yellow. The desert.
You now know where to go, and from up here, you can see the entire plateau. Unfortunately, your body strength fails you, and you come sliding down, breathless and semiconscious, as your body crashes to the ground. The pain is great, but you do not die.
You are now presented two choices. With no need of exploring, you can head towards the edge of the plateau closest to the desert. However, the cave is certainly too dangerous to explore, so if you want shelter, you'll have to set up a camp now.
