"I'm by myself in here," you say.
"You're a liar," he growls. "You think you can be smart? I'll show you..."
"Show him what?" says a female voice. It's Annabelle...with her own pistol in her hand, pointed straight at the intruder. The man immediately grabs you and positions you in front of him, pointing his gun at your head.
"Stephen hired you, didn't he," says Ana.
"Yeah," sneers the gunman. "He wanted revenge on you two fuckheads, and I do any job as long as the money's right."
"That was your first mistake, accepting a job from that little shit," says the nurse. "Your second, and fatal, mistake was this." She fires. The .45 caliber bullet slams into the thug's head, splattering blood and brain matter all over you. "Taking a hostage who's a lot shorter than you. Your head was fully exposed the whole time, dumbass," she finishes to the corpse, which slumps down. For the first time in your life, you feel good about being short.
Annabelle makes her way over to you. "Are you okay?"
"I am now, thanks to you. You saved my life."
She smiles modestly. "We saved each other. When I heard a strange voice calling you a liar, I knew something was up. I grabbed my gun and came out here. Just in time. I don't even want to think about what would have happened if he had gotten the drop on me."
"So now what?" you ask.
A grim look appears on Annabelle's pretty face. "Well, after we get you cleaned up, it'll be time for revenge on that asshole Stephen. After we get rid of this corpse, I'm going after him." She pats her .45 affectionately.
