The semi-dried spunk on your naked foot does a better job of keeping a lace-less sneaker on than a sock does, it seems.

As your socked foot goes forward, you kick your shoe in a high arc. You stumble but do not fall, making it across the street intact.

Amazingly, your shoe missed the trees next to the mini-golf establishment. However, it landed on the roof. At least there's a chance to get it down.

While you're standing there, contemplating your misfortune, the clerk makes his way across the street. He looks down, notices your missing shoe, and shudders as he shoots off inside his pants.

He turns to you and asks, "Should we try and get your shoe down?"

You reply:

• "Forget the shoe! Let's find a way inside."
• "Yes. Let's look around the outside of the building for a way onto the roof."
