Leaving/Janet/Wait for things to settle down

From Create Your Own Story

You give things a couple of weeks to get, relatively speaking, back to normal.

When the shock of the break-in seems to have worn off, you let your family know one morning that you have something significant to tell them that evening. They, of course, want to know what it is.

"Don't worry, it's not anything bad," you say. "But I don't want to spoil the surprise. At 6 p.m. tonight, you'll find out."

Everyone is home at 5:30. At 5:40, you go into your room, having instructed them to wait in the living room.

You put on your most feminine clothes and quickly apply make-up. At precisely 6:00, you stroll into the living room.

Your dad looks shocked, your mom smiles, and your sister pumps her fist in the air in celebration.

"I knew it!" your sister says. "Dad, you owe me $20." She turns to you. "Sis, you need to work on your make-up skills. And what's your new name?"

"Janet."

She strides over to you. "Let's go to my room and I'll show you how to properly apply make-up. Just let me collect my winnings first."

Your dad sourly hands your sister a $20 bill.
