You move out from cover, and are seen. The boy cries out, backing up into a tree behind him. You raise a hand to calm him, and speak.

"I'm not going to hurt you. My name is Captain Walker." You say, inching your way towards him. "I washed ashore not too far away from here. Can you take me to your group so I can talk to them about staying here?"

Slowly, you get closer to the boy. Just as he is within arms length, he grabs a fallen branch and waves it at you. Your hand goes to the hilt of your machete. He steels himself up, and answers.

"Mom told me to keep bad people from our house." He says, a surprising amount of bravery showing. "I think you're here to hurt mom and my friends."

While you can take him on, you think of a diplomatic solution.

Show him you mean no harm. Surrender your weapons?

Use your machete to cut his stick and knock him out?

Just cut the bugger down! It would take around two seconds.
