At the request of the man, you give him your thanks and walk out the door, gear in hand. You have got some time to kill, so why not explore the town a little? The blacksmith is almost certainly not done with your shield, so no use checking in on him, but there are other places around town. The only two locations that might not require any money would be Delights, a fairly sketchy establishment that anyone with a reputation avoids, and Romania's Tonics. Romania is a good friend, whom you have known since childhood, but she is rarely around. It might be a waste of time to visit, sadly.
