Help the patrol hunt down any nearby zombies

From Create Your Own Story

You decide to help the patrol finish off any nearby zombies. Lieutenant Jackson hands you a grenade. "Use it when a good opportunity comes up." He then goes off to supervise the repair of the fence.

Your companions, two men and one woman, are all taller, older, and more muscular than you, but thanks to your heroic one-woman display, you have earned their respect. Flipping your submachine gun to semi-automatic, you wield it in one hand and your pistol in the other. Your grenade is clipped to your belt. You take your assigned position in the squad and shoot down zombies one by one in your zone, drilling neat holes in each of their foreheads from your expert markswomanship. You look around. Only a few zombies left...

Suddenly, a massive horde of zombies bursts out seemingly from nowhere. Your three companions immediately turn and open fire on the horde. You flip your submachine gun to full auto and join in, enjoying the feel of your strong wrist safely absorbing the recoil. You fire your pistol in your other hand until it clicks empty.

You notice that the zombies are pouring out from an old well. Tossing your empty pistol aside, you draw your grenade and pull the pin. It's going to be a long throw, and the opening to the well is quite small, but you are confident in your abilities. With a strong, accurate throw, you hurl your grenade. It sails cleanly into the well and explodes in a massive orange fireball. The flow of zombies pouring out of the well stops. With a sigh of relief, you go back to mowing down zombies with your machine gun.

When all the zombies are dead, the four of you look at each other and nod, like commandos in a cheesy action movie. Your female companion looks at you admiringly. "Nice throw, Marina," she compliments you. "I have a pretty good arm, but I'm not sure I could have made that throw."

You smile modestly. "Thanks. I was the starting center fielder on my high school varsity softball team, so I had to be able to throw well, and not like a girl." You both giggle.

When you inform Lieutenant Jackson about what happened, he frowns. "That's not the first time zombies have popped up from underground," he says. "Several of us suspect the existence of a massive network of unexplored tunnels under and near the base, probably full of zombies. In fact, I was thinking of organizing a new squad specifically to deal with that threat, and now, I'm definitely going to do it. Would you like to join us, Marina?"
