You walk out of your apartment in just your underwear and start walking to school. As you walk down the street you notice that everyone is staring at you, and you wonder what they're looking at. You continue to the law school building and see a cop car parked out front, waiting for you.
The police officer gets out of the car and approaches you. He tells you that you are under arrest for indecent exposure. He reads you your Miranda rights. You start laughing because you just assume it's like one of those dreams where you go to school naked...
Except this is real. The cop puts you in the back of his patrol car and takes you down to central booking. You sit there in the back seat, wondering where you went wrong, then you realize that it was probably when you decided to leave for school without putting any clothes on. Looks like you'll be needing a lawyer of your own soon enough.
At central booking, you go through all the routine procedures as a common criminal. At your initial hearing, the judge agrees to let you out on your own recognizance. Three months later, you return to court for your trial, where you plead guilty to a misdemeanor in exchange for probation before judgment that won't go into an official criminal record.
Your run-in with the law has forced you to drop out of school for this year while you deal with the ramifications of your decision. You register for classes for the following year and get ready to go to your first day of school...again.
