You wander back to the street. There's a police car parked where the line of people used to be. Its lights are flashing. Through the milling crowd, you spot the bouncer lying on the ground in front of the door, groaning and clutching at his chest. A young police woman wearing a very tight uniform is leaning over him. You wonder if he was shot or stabbed.

"It's going to be all right," the officer says. "The ambulance will be here any second now. Any second."
