Ignoring her cries and threats, you manhandle her over to where you thought you heard the sound, and suddenly stop in surprise. You've come across a deep pit, a clear space of damp, churned earth leading down to the opening of a large black cave. At the mouth of the cave, you see some sort of large creature - a writhing mass of long, thick tentacles and a large, fleshy body with a sharp protrusion on one end that could be a beak. You can't see anything that could be described as an eye.
It shudders and gurgles, glistening with a thick, creamy slime, but as you approach, it shudders and its tentacles start to unfurl and flap out along the ground towards you. Somehow, it seems to have sensed you.
Annie seems to be more shocked at the sight than you. She stops midsentence, and then starts to make little shrieking sounds.
