"Maybe some other time then," Angela says, noticeably disappointed.
Strike two! I'm on fire with this friend thing, you think to yourself, noting that you denied two already.
Suddenly, you hear the coach's voice behind you. "I understand you are new in school, but being shy with the team will not make you a better cheerleader."
"I'm sorry, ma'am," you tell her. Before you say anything, she calls over some other girl in the squad.
The girl wears almost the same glasses as you but thicker; her body tall and slender. She finishes up her ponytail and introduces herself as Amber.
"Amber's from a private school before so she isn't used to this kind of open environment. Her parents told me to let her join the team to improve her social skills and, well, being my niece, I agreed to the request."
You notice a bit of similarities between the two of you, only that she feels somewhat a bit more awkward. Nonetheless, you struck twice and she is your last chance in making new friends - so you're not in the position to complain.
"If you say no here, you're off the team," the coach whispers to your ear.
