FOTR/ents against the mountains

After sailing up the river Morgulduin to bombard Minas Morgul, the ents and other military forces departed the ships and swept through the wreckage of the tower. They were searching for a Palantir, but none was to be found. In order to continue the shortcut into Mordor, the mountain path would have to be widened.
Upon reaching the narrow entrances into the moutains, the largest ents, three or four times larger than Treebeard, wrap their mighty limbs and roots around the mountainside. As if time sped up, the strength of the trees tore into the stone, bringing it down in crumbling boulders tht crashed into the river. In no time, a gaping valley opened up where once there was a two narrow and steep cliff walls - and there was nothing standing between the ents and Cirith Ungol.
The Dark Elves, ents, and armies of men then lay seige to the second tower. Cirith Ungol fell just like it's brother - and as word spread about the terrible armies, more of Sauron's forces chose to flee rather than fight. Gandalf continues to lead the charge, flanked by Elrond and Glorfindel. All of them continued to wonder where Frodo was - there had been no rumor of the ring or it's bearer for many months. Just as the fearsome allies are clearing the final armies from Mordor, Aragorn and Sam reveal themselves. They have been traveling at night and in hiding during the day for months, avoiding roads, towns, or communication of any type. Because Gandalf was not there to assist Elrond, the Ringwraith's attack on Rivendell was devastating. In the confusion, Frodo was not brought inside and treate fast enough - and he perished. Aragorn asked Sam to carry the ring further, and the two younger hobbit insisted on helping - but as their tiny party faced more obstacle, they also faced more casualties. When they could not get into Rivendell, Aragorn led the three tired hobbits north through the Goblin's Town - a journey which Pippin did not survive. After given a boat by Beorn, thye floated down the Anduin - but slept too long, tumbling over the falls at Rauros. When the pulled themselves ashore, Merry was nowhere to be found. No one knows how Aragorn snuck Sam past the Black Gate, but the journey clearly had great cost.
With his army devastated and his worst enemies in his front yard, Sauron cowered in Barad-Dur. Gandalf, Elrond, Glorfindel, Aragorm, and Samwise met to discuss what to do next.
Decision
What should Gandalf and the new fellowship do?
- Send Sam and Aragorn to Mount Doom, backed up by Elrond and Glorfindel, to destroy the Ring.
- Give the ring to Aragorn, and have him wield it against Sauron - executing him on behalf of all the free peoples.
- Exile the weakened Sauron, forcing him to walk Middle-earth forever as a beggar - while keeping the Ring safe in Minas Tirith.
