This room creeps you out, but you decide to check out the curtains anyways. After all, curtains usually hide windows.
You cross the room and pull aside the heavy drapes. Sunlight nearly blinds you after the darkness you've been in for the last few hours. After a few moments, your eyes adjust. You're on the second story of the castle, high above the ground. From the windows, it's a shear drop to the grass below. It's not a jump you'd want to make. The windows themselves are framed in iron and set with glass panes that have sagged with age. You might be able to break them.
