You drop your hatchet downward and swing it in a horizontal plane about 27 inches off the ground.

Marie had started to duck, anticipating you would go high. By the time she realizes what's happening, it's too late. Your hatchet smashes into her arms, sending her knife flying and Marie sprawling backwards.

You pounce as she topples onto the ground. One quick blow separates her head from her body. You let out a joyous shout and throw your hatchet aside as your brain catches up to everything that happened in that 3 second interval.

Suddenly, there's a camera crew and an announcer in front of you.

"The winner of Battle Royale, Zeke Davidson!" booms the announcer. "How'd you manage it?"

"Strategic thinking and good close-quarter combat skills."

"Was it always your plan to take the lighthouse?"

"It seemed like a smart thing to do."

"In the final battle, what was your strategy?"

"Wait for an opening and let my reflexes do the rest."

"There you have it. Tune in next year at a new location for the second Battle Royale!"

The crew and announcer vanish and a man appears. "I'm the sponsor. Here's your $200,000 check. Shall we get you home?"

The money helps keep you financially stable in the future. You never do like people very much, but you do eventually make a few friends.
