"I don't have a choice, really," she says quietly, looking at the bandage on her hand and wiggling her fingers just a little before wincing in pain. "Something bad is happening outside, and I'm worried if I left that my boyfriend might just try to attack me again."
"Maybe we should get some sleep then," you say quietly. "You can sleep in my bed, and I'll take the couch."
"We're not going to be able to sleep," she says quietly, trying to keep her voice down as well. "Even if we could, with everything going on right now, that would be dangerous."
"Well, you get some sleep and I'll sit up and watch," you say.
Claire lays across the couch, carefully lying her arm down at her side. "Let's just sit here and talk for a few, please." She sighs softly. "I'm still pretty shaken up, and I need to get away from my thoughts."
"What do you want to talk about?" You ask.
"Anything," she says, giving you a soft smile.
