Ask the librarian for a mop

You go up to the front desk and ask the stern-faced librarian for a mop.
"A mop?" she says. "Has someone spilled a soft drink on the floor? There isn't supposed to be any food or drink in here."
"Uh, not exactly a soft drink," you say.
"No?" the librarian says. "But I'm right that you intend to use the mop on the floor, yes? What is it that needs to be mopped?"
