"Well, I'm not a bad cook," you tell her. "I live by myself, so if I don't cook, I don't eat."

"And you were thinking of coming over to my apartment and cooking for me," Melanie says. "Or we could go to this nice little hole-in-the-wall Chinese place near my house."
