"I'd like to know how this Gameplay thing works," you say.

"Of course, Master Taylor," says surge. He then looks around the station. "Hey, Ralph!"

"Oh my god!" says the one-and-only Wreck-It Ralph, "What is it this time . . . another 'random' security stop?"

"No, I was wondering if you'd help me demonstrate Gameplay to the Gamer here."

"Demonstrating Gameplay to a Gamer," says Ralph as he approaches. "I wouldn't think that would be necessary. No offense, Gamer," he quickly adds.

"No problem," you say. "But it's very different playing a game in here than it is out there."

"Okay," says Ralph, "What do I have to do?"

"Just help me demonstrate . . . "

"Fine, as long as it's for the Gamer . . . I'm not really very keen on you."

"Good," says Surge, then he turns to you. "Now I'm sure you've noticed the status displays at the top and bottom of your vision."

"What status displays?" asks Ralph as he looks around.

"You wouldn't see them, Ralph, you aren't a Gamer."

"Oh yeah."

"In any case you can see the characters abilities as well as your own abilities. When you try to do something with a game sprite these are very important. Physical actions use the Body attribute, Mental actions use the Mind attribute, and social actions use the Spirit attribute.

"Some things use a simple compare between the attributes. These are things such as test of strength, solving a puzzle fastest, or coming up with a quip quicker. In the event of a tie, the challenge goes to you, of course, being a Gamer. Other things are more drawn out like: fighting or racing for physical actions; playing a game of chess or winning a debate for mental actions; or winning a put-down contest or convincing a sprite to mingle code with you for social actions. This requires a conflict.

"Now Ralph, if you would be so kind as to let the Gamer take control of you; we can demonstrate a conflict."

"Oh yeah!" he says, winking at you. "This has been a long time coming. Let's kick his butt!"
